Mainstream pop is Shayne Ward's specialty and on his self-titled debut album the UK singer does it with style. Ward first came to the attention of music fans when he won the UK's X-Factor talent search contest, going on to earn the highly coveted Christmas number one spot on the UK singles chart last December with 'That's My Goal', which became the second biggest selling single of 2005 in that territory.
His version of Brian McKnight's "Back At One", as well as "Next To Me" and "I Cry" demonstrate Ward's capability as a singer and the second single off `Shayne Ward', 'No Promises' is as good a pop ballad as has been heard this year. Ward makes no claims to be an innovator nor does he pretend he's on the cutting-edge of the music scene, but as a pure pop artist, he delivers.
