Let's admit it: These guys can rock a bit, and will find an ever-expanding audience in the youth of SA. Listening to the album for the 1st time (very much an impulse buy, I'll admit), I was half-shocked by the crude lirics, but the tunes continueed to grow on me, until I discovered at least 4 tracks that are absolutely sublime in providing a new poetic direction in Afrikaans songwriting. I have always held the position that artists need to find a mouthpiece through their art and that this should serve as primary driver for their creations. In the case of Polisiekar, I believe these guys have something to say and that most Afrikaans people aged 18 - 30 can relate to that. Called it provocative rebellion or blatant opposition to the Afrikaans establishment. Or maybe just plain disillusionment. It is fantastic!
Listen to tracks 1,2,3 and 9 before judging this album (track 2 actually uses some Eibers in the liricks). Whatever you think of this album, do not write these guys off as empty cans. There's some serious talent here.
