Travelin' Buddies is made up of one very successful pop singer, a well known giant with the husky voice and a heavy rocker and master guitar player.
Kurt Darren, Dozi and
Mel Botes combine their unique talents on one album...and it sizzles!
The three buddies take the nostalgic road and revive all the golden oldies from music masters like Bob Dylan, Roy Orbinson, The Rolling Stones, The Travelling Willburys, JJ Cale, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, The Eagles and Eric Clapton. It is the sound of the late 70's and early 80's which sees the trio catering for different tastes, from pop, ballads and rock.
The evergreen hits include songs like "End of the Line" from the Traveling Wilburys, (Dozi, Mel and Kurt), The Rolling Stones' "Under the Boardwalk" (Dozi), Roy Orbinson's "You Got It" (Kurt) and Dire Straits' "Sultans of Swing" (Mel). The three popular singers also add spice to The Traveling Wilbury's "Last Night", Neil Diamond's big hit "Solitary Man" and Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight".
Dozi's husky voice complements Bob Seger's "Against the Wind", which is followed by JJ Cale's hit "Call Me the Breeze" (Dozi, Kurt and Mel). Kurt also turns in a goose-flesh rendition of Van Morrison's hit "Brown Eyed Girl" while Mel and Dozi have lots of fun with the Traveling Wilbury's "Tweeter and the Monkey-Man", and Kurt revives The Eagles "Hotel California".
These are just some of the standouts on a concept album that takes its inspiration from iconic rock group Traveling Wilbury's, (Roy Orbinson, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Bob Dyaln).
This quality album has a raw, acoustic sound with extraordinary guitar work - an ode to the masters of the seventies and early eighties. It's perfect for long road trips, a sokkie, a party or an evening in the pub...
