Turn It Up

Short description

After the surprise success of her debut single 'Mama Do (UhOh Uh Oh)', Kent-born starlet Pixie Lott's debut album deals in the same brand of sassy teen-pop. Most of the songs here are potential singles, and all have Lott's signature bouncy pop sensibility. Most notable aside from her chart-toppingdebut release are 'Here We Go Again' (produced by the legendary RedOne) and the singles 'Boys And Girls' and 'Cry Me Out'. Lott herself shares writing credits on many of the songsthat make up this first foray.

Long description

Pixie’s personality, her rich vocals and her magnetic persona are all over first single “Mama Do”, an archetypal teenage tale of sneaking out on mischievous dates under the cover of night and an appetite for adventure, action and the unknown.

Recently described by the UK Sunday Times’ Culture Magazine as ‘the most authentic pop voice in years’, Pixie Lott has a potent, rich and addictive voice with the depth and maturity of a soul diva combined with the vim and dexterity of a teenage pop princess. The 18 year old from Essex takes you back to a slightly more carefree time in pop, where all that mattered were big tunes, big ideas and brilliant singers.

Pixie’s tracks fizz with excitement and represent a solid 2 years spent working around the globe with the cream of the world’s top tunesmiths. Along with the single’s co-writers Thornalley and Hague, some of the other legends that Pixie’s been holed up writing in the studio with include Cutfather and Jonas Jeburg (who’ve worked with everyone from Kylie to the Pussycat Dolls), Red One of Lady Gaga ‘Just Dance’ fame, Toby Gad, the NY-based producer and songwriter behind ‘If I Were A Boy’, and Kara DioGuardi, superstar songwriter and new American Idol judge.

After spotting an ad in The Stage ‘seeking the next pop diva’, Pixie, just 14 at the time, begged her mum to let her audition. Before long this particular ad had taken Pixie to New York, to work on demos with Peter Zizzo and Toby Gad. From that point on, things began to snowball. Pixie grabbed herself a management deal at just 16 years old with US-based DAS Communications, whose roster also includes the Black Eyed Peas and Fergie. Following two years of quietly working hard, writing, recording, traveling the globe, working with some of the world’s best who always seem to gravitate towards her, Pixie found herself in the midst of a huge worldwide bidding war, eventually signing with Mercury Records in the UK and Interscope in the US.
