Ultimate Collection is the second greatest hits compilation album by the British pop duo Eurythmics, and was released in November 2005. This set preceded (by one week) the re-issuing of all eight Eurythmics back-catalogue albums originally released on the RCA/BMG label. These re-issues include remastered tracks and bonus material. The fact that the Ultimate Collection was closely connected to these re-issues is also the chief reason for the omission of "Sexcrime (Nineteen Eighty-Four)".

Long description

In August 2005, post that critically acclaimed and emotive Live 8 appearance, Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart got back in the studio for the first time in 5 years to record new material and the forthcoming single "I've Got A Life". This is the first time the iconic duo has worked together since the 1999/2000 album Peace and the tour of the same name, which they dedicated to Greenpeace and Amnesty, giving them the profits.

You just have to look through the tracklisting of Ultimate Collection to remember the impact these classics had. This album is a tribute to why they are revered as seminal. Included are strong and intelligent pop songs; "There Must Be An Angel..." and "Here Comes The Rain Again", hallmarks of the duo. While "Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves" showcases Annie Lennox's powerful and expressive voice effortlessly combining with Aretha Franklin. On "Who's That Girl?" and "Sweet Dreams..."

Dave Stewart's innovative production techniques are as fresh today as they were on release. This album is a must have in any music collection, offering some of the most significant records of one of the most important acts the UK has ever produced.
