Although just a child at the time, Ella Mental had made a profound impact on me in the turbulent '80's. I simply just loved their music from the git go. Those awesome guitar riffs, the digital drums (which I think really sound awesome, considering the technology back then) and the overall hi-tech pop sound that was brought into a whole by one awesome female vocalist, Heather Mac. This band ranks up there with all the other great SA bands of the decade e-VOID, Tribe After Tribe, etc. The music stuck with me ever since, but it had been elusive to find. And then, finally, a re-release. Yay!
This is a great album. Sounds great. A dream come true because I had been searching for it for six years.
As with other titles under the same label, no expense was spared in the engineering of this album. A true masterpiece. See www.freshmusic.co.za for other great titles that are available at kalahari.net
My search for other dead SA bands attracted the interest of Benjy Mudie (TUSK MUSIC), and it was he who informed me about this release of "Uncomplicated Dreams" digitally remastered under his "Fresh" label, when I asked if he could help me get Ella Mental's music!
