In 2000, this Australian folk-pop trio released their third independent album "Sink or Swim" after eight years of plying their trade around Australia. They then started gigging internationally and created a crazy train of supporters stretching from festivals in England, Scotland, Canada, the USA and Australia.
In 2001, The Waifs became the first Australian act to appear at the prestigious Newport Folk Festival and have subsequently toured Europe with Bob Dylan. In 2003, The Waifs launched their album "Up All Night". In its first week it reached Number 3 on the ARIA album charts - the album went gold only four weeks after release and has now gone double platinum.
The Waifs were 2003 ARIA Award winners in the categories of Best Blues and Roots Release and Best Independent Release for "Up All Night". The Waifs' guitarist, Josh Cunningham, is currently on a world tour with Australian mega-star "Missy Higgins".
