Following the death of her husband, Ethel Ann (Shirley MacLaine, STEEL MAGNOLIAS) tells her daughter Marie (Neve Campbell, SCREAM) the story of a wartime romance she had. Meanwhile, two men in Belfast find an inscribed ring in the site where a U.S. B-17 crashed during World War II, much to the chagrin of the I.R.A.
Richard Attenborough directs again after an eight year break since GREY OWL and has made an unashamedly old-fashioned film. Mischa Barton (THE O.C.) shines as the young Ethel Ann and the film also features fine performances from Christopher Plummer and Pete Postelthwaite. The film oscillates between Michigan and Belfast in the early 1990s and flashes back to a World War II love story. CLOSING THE RING is a heart warming and romantic film about love and friendship.
