Take up arms with the remaining human survivors as you fight against the Chimeran race in Resistance 3. The game is set in an alternate 1950s universe, where America has been conquered and destroyed by the deadly Chimeran race. You will take on the role of Joseph Capelli, one of the last surviving Sentinel from a clandestine military program. Capelli comes out of hiding to journey across a land of ruin in a fight for the survival of the human race against the Chimera. Resistance 3 will also offer two-player online or split-screen co-op play through the single-player campaign. There will also be a World War multiplayer mode that will pit humans against the Chimera in a team-deathmatch-type scenario. Resistance 3 will offer you a unique set of weapons constructed with human and alien technology.
The story starts 4 years after Operation: Black Eden, where the United States is the last nation standing against the Chimera, but leaving most of the states into barren wastelands along with the rest of the world. Joseph Capelli has been dishonorably discharged from SRPA for executing Nathan Hale, while Malikov has discovered a cure for the Chimera virus from Hale's blood as the Chimera begin to exterminate the human race. In an underground outpost in Haven, Oklahoma, Capelli, his wife Susan Farley, son Jack and other survivors have been living in hiding from the Chimera patrols for over 2 years. Their hope to stay hidden from the Chimera is quickly crushed as Capelli notices a Terraformer (a massive, satellite-like weapon that destroys everything on the ground by firing an energy wave from the sky) moving towards Haven.
