The TomTom Go Live 1000 is a satnav with a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen, HD Traffic updates, a free year’s subscription to TomTom’s Live services, speed camera locations and both IQ and Eco Routes.
The Go Live 1000 is speed demon of a satnav, it is able to calculate routes and re-route a lot faster than any of its rivals and i even tried this with some of its close rivals and it saved about 8 - 9 sec's against some devices.
Factor in its amazing and very accurate Live services (free for a year), which serve up real time traffic updates, traffic accidents, slow moving traffic and the ability to find locations using Google’s Local Search tech, and you’ve got a fantastically capable, fast-acting satnav/gps.
It’s about R470+- per year to keep up your subscription after the initial year too – which is a big reduction on the previous subscription price. The Go Live 1000 also has a new type of cradle, which uses magnets: this lets you snap the satnav into place in moments. Also same for the charger that goes into the cradle and then snaps into your device, very convenient and works like a dream i might add.
There is realy nothing much to pick at on the cons of the device, except perhaps the price. The Go Live 1000 is more expensive than most of its rivals, and if you don’t find yourself using satnav regularly you might not feel like you’re getting the best value for money.
Conclusion:
TomTom has delivered yet another top notch satnav/gps device. The Go Live 1000 is fast, accurate and packed with useful extras and a devinite must have to day to day use and to avoid those nasty traffic jams and accidents on ruite to JHB or PTA via the N1 :), saved me a heck of a lot of time and frustration, even had a few times where i actualy was wowed by how quick and seamlessly it calculates a new ruite when it picks up heavy delay's on-ruite.

Easily the best part of this product is the traffic information. It saved me a couple hours on the road from Jhb to Dbn during the Easter break.
It's not that effective in day-to-day city driving in Jhb, but I put that down to there being heavy traffic almost everywhere.
